The Mask of A Friend

The Mask of A Friend

When you cry I'll wipe away every one of your tears, until you smile again.
If your mad I'll calm you down, stick with you, and show I'm a true friend.

I will smile for you, and even force a laugh,
but most of all, I'll save you from lifes brutal attack.

Behind closed doors, I'm broken, I'm tattered and I'm torn.
Some nights I even wish that I was never born.

With you I wear my mask, so that I can be your clown,
I do all these things, so I never let you down.
But behind closed doors I'm loney, and you never seem to be around,
and it's ok because I'd never want you to see me frown.

So if you ever need me know I always have your back
I'll grab my mask and smile, though it feels like I'm having a heart attack.
